St. Joseph's Health Centre is a fully accredited community teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. We provide primary, secondary and tertiary services to a culturally diverse community in Southwest Toronto. On August 1, 2017, Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre and St. Michael's Hospital integrated to form a new health network. CHIEF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY, ST. JOSEPH'S HEALTH CENTRE
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and the Medical and Administrative Program Directors of the Women's and Children's Program, the Chief will exhibit strong leadership skills in the areas of communication, clinical service delivery, resource allocation/ utilization and performance management. The Chief will champion best practice and quality initiatives in a dynamic inter-professional environment within a program management model.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department is part of the Women's and Children's Program which includes the Family Birthing Centre, a Level 2 NICU, a regional Paediatric Centre, a Division of Midwifery, and partners with Family Medicine. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is comprised of 20 specialists. There are approximately 3300 deliveries yearly at SJHC and there is a Minimally Invasive Surgery Service within Gynecology.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished clinician and teacher with a proven track record of academic achievements and must possess a FRCSC with a license to practice in Ontario. The Chief will promote continued growth in academic relations with the University of Toronto and should have or be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. The SJHC Department has a robust education program both at the undergraduate and post graduate levels.
