The new Learning and Innovation Centre at St. Joseph’s Health Centre is now open

St. Joseph’s Health Centre’s newly renovated and transformed meeting and education spaces in the Learning and Innovation Centre are now open.

Thanks to the support of generous donors, the meeting spaces formerly named Education Centre A and B, the Small Boardroom and the Large Boardroom, and the small room across the hall, have all been renovated to improve meeting and learning experiences.

The spaces have new and enhanced technology features, flexible furnishings to accommodate various meeting and classroom purposes, black-out blinds, acoustic walls to reduce sound travel, and new interior finishes. For the first time, St. Joseph’s has a meeting space that can accommodate up to 140 people.

The following four rooms are the main features of the new Learning and Innovation Centre and are named in honour of the leading supporters. In the New Year, the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation will host a special event to recognize and celebrate the donors who helped make the new Learning and Innovation Centre possible.  At that time, the donor names will be added to the new room names.

The Lyklama Auditorium A&B, formerly known as Education Centre A and B, includes the following key features:

  • Flexible layout so it can meet multiple meeting purposes
  • The ability to accommodate 140 people seated in an auditorium style
  • Divisible through a motorized movable wall to accommodate two simultaneous activities in the space
  • Enough room for a registration area
  • Natural light and newly installed event lighting
  • Enhanced sound, media tools and video conferencing technology

TD Collaboratory, formerly known as Large Boardroom, includes the following key features:

  • Ability to support various education and boardroom functions through a flexible layout and flexible furnishing
  • Room to seat up to 59 people
  • Enhanced technology and video conferencing features
  • Flexibility of space to accommodate both formal meetings and collaborative learning

Dr. Dan Andreae Learning Hub, formerly known as Small Boardroom, includes the following key features:

  • Flexible furniture layout for training, meetings and classes
  • Room to seat up to 12 people
  • Enhanced audio visual tools such as projectors and video conferencing

KPMG Mindspace, the small quiet study area across the hall, includes:

  • A new working space to accommodate private and quiet work needs
  • This space was designed in response to feedback from a broad survey at St. Joseph’s that indicated great staff interest in a quiet study area
