St. Joseph’s cafeteria goes green
Reducing our environmental footprint is a priority for Unity Health Toronto and a key component towards Investing in our Future. The cafeteria at St. Joseph’s – otherwise known as Lakeside Café – is going green!
All Styrofoam and plastic material such as utensils, containers, soup bowls and lids, coffee cups and lids, and plates will be switched to compostable material. There are also going to be newly added organic waste bins at the Cafeteria sorting station, where staff and visitors can dispose food waste and compostable material. Further, cutlery will be available for free with a meal purchase or available for a fee of $0.10 per individual piece or $0.30 for a package containing a fork, knife and spoon. Did you know you can fill up at our water station near the cash registers? Staff are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles for coffee and water. Styrofoam cups will soon no longer be available at the water station, and compostable paper cups can be purchased instead for $0.10.
