About Us

St. Joe's - A Catholic community teaching hospital

Looking, listening, learning and collaborating with the community we serve. It makes St. Joseph’s Health Centre, or St. Joe’s Toronto, who we are.

Joe’s Toronto is a community teaching hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto, serving the healthcare needs of the city’s west end. Our vision is to advance the health of our community by being Canada’s best community teaching health centre. And our people – staff, physicians, volunteers and students – live our vision and values every day, and are committed to serving our patients and their local community with compassion.

The history of St. Joe’s Toronto is inseparable from the history of city’s west end. It’s a history of seeing the needs of that community, and then doing what needs to be done to meet those needs, with compassion and care for all. It was a commitment made by the Sisters of St. Joseph and one that we cherish and uphold to this day.

It’s why we believe that every act of care and support St. Joe’s Toronto provides is a promise kept – a promise to make our community one of the healthiest in Canada, and to continue the legacy of the Sisters who founded St. Joe’s nearly a century ago.
