Smoking on hospital property
The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ministry of Health Promotion recently announced regulation changes to Smoke Free Ontario Act which requires all hospitals in the province to be 100 per cent smoke free. As a result, St. Joe’s is shifting to become a completely smoke-free hospital effective January 1, 2018.
What does this mean for you?
Staff, physicians, patients and community members will be directed to smoke off hospital property to help create a safe, healthy and comfortable environment for everyone at St. Joe’s.
Until January 1, 2018, there is a designated smoking area at the corner of Glendale Avenue and The Queensway where patients, visitors and Health Centre staff who smoke can do so. By limiting smoking to this area it will help reduce the exposure to second-hand smoke.
Please help St. Joe’s be a good neighbour and use the butt stops to extinguish your cigarettes before entering the property. Do not litter in our neighbourhood.
