Our promise: to listen to their feedback and to share the learnings openly so that we can work together to build on our strengths and enhance the people experience

RESULTS REVEAL CONTINUED TREND TOWARDS IMPROVED ENGAGEMENT, WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO DO EVEN BETTER

Nearly two thirds of our employees and more than half of our physicians and volunteers responded to the survey. The strong response rates are, in themselves, indicators that our people are engaged and committed to helping St. Joe’s fulfill its mission and vision and to contributing to a positive workplace.

Overall, 69 per cent of employees, 70 per cent of physicians and 90 per cent of volunteers feel engaged at St. Joe’s. This represents an improvement in engagement levels of both staff and physicians since the last survey completed in 2012.

Engagement is a heightened emotional and intellectual connection that people have for their jobs, organization, supervisor and/or coworkers. Being engaged means that people feel a sense of pride in being affiliated with St. Joe’s. They feel valued as an employee, physician, or volunteer and feel inspired to do their best work on a daily basis. They feel a sense of personal accomplishment through their job and role and can see a clear link between their work and St. Joe’s long-term objectives.

WHY IS ENGAGEMENT IMPORTANT?

Because our people matter. In healthcare, there is strong evidence that demonstrates the relationship between engagement and patient care outcomes that include increase in quality of care and patient-centered care. For St. Joe’s, it is also about enabling and empowering our staff, physicians and volunteers to feel that they are a vital part of their community and our vision and mission as a healthcare organization.
