Medicine and Seniors Care

The Medicine and Seniors Care program offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical services to meet the growing needs of the community including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, geriatrics, haematology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, rheumatology and respirology.

Our four specialized general medicine units have been opened to consolidate care for general medicine patients, to expedite admissions from the Emergency Department and to better integrate interprofessional care for our general medicine patients. Our transitional care unit provides interim medical, physical and psychosocial support for patients awaiting transition to an alternate level of care destination.

The Seniors Care program helps us deliver more comprehensive and innovative programs to meet the needs of the increasing number of seniors within the population we serve. The care that seniors receive in hospitals is among the key determinants in the health and well-being of older adults. We are linked to the Elderly Community Health Services (ECHS) Clinic within our Ambulatory Care Centre. This clinic provides outpatient assessment, health promotion and illness prevention for the elderly, with the aim of assisting patients and families to manage the challenges associated with aging.

We also provide outpatient services for select specialized care areas:
